The LGBTQIA+ community continues to face, despite advances in their rights, misunderstanding if not discrimination and violence from those who seem more concerned about what happens in other people's lives than in their own. Many of those who discriminate against them, however, have no qualms about benefiting from the technological and scientific advances driven by gays, lesbians, transsexuals or bisexuals that have made our world a better place.
